This shortfilm is a challenge from me to myself, mobile videography is something people in the 'Biz' frowns upon, and I couldn't see clearly why in the beginning.
Role: Filming, content organizing and editing.
An opportunity knocks at the wierdest times, and this particular one knocked at 5.30 in the morning, where I got a message that asked if I was interested in a gig as a chauffeur and then if I would like to record the events at this nice get-together of a large group at southern Jutland in Denmark. I said yes of course, and then thought a lot about to how I would make it.
If I wanted to I could easely rent "proper" equipment for this one, but I wanted to try and film it from my phone (iPhone X), to give myself a real challenge and to see if I could make something that I would be proud of from a phone.
Things I learned... Never say never, and never use a phone for filming again. The outcome was okey, I had fun making it, I was happy with the anamorphic adapter and the things I got from it, the filmic app is a pretty nice tool for filming with the phone. But... BUT, it could have been so much better if I had more dynamic range, and more details in my recordings, and mucho bettro sound on the voices and other "natural" sounds if I had a rented proper equipment for this gig.
But then again, but. The client was happy with the product and if people are happy then I too am happy, but no more mobile filming in the future. Unless there's a load of lights at location and even a little few bouncers would be great.
